We are often asked:  "when is the best time to visit?"  We started thinking of each season and these thoughts came to mind.  You'll have to pick your favorite.  We couldn't choose any one season over the other!

SPRING

  • The land comes to life
  • Mountains covered in blooming dogwoods

  • Birds sing
  • Native flowers bloom
  • Rain comes and creeks and waterfalls flow faster

  • Windows rolled down, wind through your hair

SUMMER

  • Warm, cool, and wet
  • Brilliant lush foliage - so many shades of green
  • The excitement and chill of the Nantahala River
  • Mountain Laurel and Rhododendrons bloom
  • Swimming in cool, clear mountain lakes & streams
  • Picnics and Families
  • Fresh local produce and Sourwood honey

FALL

  • Ever changing color - red, orange and yellow
  • The anticipation of evening fires
  • Frost in the air
  • Roasting marshmallows
  • Catch and Release begins on the Nantahala
  • Fall Festivals
  • Fresh Apple Cider
  • Paddling across the lake through colorful reflections

WINTER

  • Winter Wonderland - Snow and Shimmering Ice Crystals
  • Black, White and Beautiful
